Lassi is a popular Indian Yogurt drink originated from Punjab. Best to beat the summer heat.
Traditional lassi is a drink, sometimes flavored with roasted ground cumin. But sweet lassi has sugar or fruits , instead of spices. It is prepared by churning the yogurt with a wooden hand blender called as madani, in Punjabi language. But you can always blend it using electric blender.
So let’s see how to make sweet lassi.
Preparation Time: 10 Mins
- 2 Cups Yogurt
- 1/2 Cup Chilled milk or Plain water
- 6-7 Tablespoons Sugar(Depending on how sweet you want)
- 4-5 Cardamom
- Few Saffron strands for garnishing(Optional)
Open cardamom pods and crush the seeds to fine powder. Keep aside.
Blend the yogurt in a blender for few seconds until smooth.
Add sugar and blend few more seconds.
Add chilled water or chilled milk and blend again for few seconds until frothy. You can adjust the quantity of water or milk depending upon how thick you want your Lassi.
Finally, add powdered cardamom , and blend again for few more seconds.
Pour in tall glasses
Garnish with some saffron strands and enjoy this refreshing sweet lassi.
