Almonds are healthy and nutritious and if you want to avoid milk while making smoothies or shakes, this is the best choice. It has benefits like, it keeps your bones strong, keeps your heart healthy, helps in weight management and helps to glow your skin. So why not keep this almond milk ready and use it in various recipes,whenever required.
You can also flavor your homemade almond milk with vanilla essence and add some dates for sweetness. But I prefer it unsweetened , so that I can adjust the sweetness later for the recipes.
Store it in refrigerator and use within a week.
Yields: 4 Cups
Soaking Time: 5 Hours
Total Time: 5 Hours 10 Mins
- 1 Cup Almonds ( Either split or whole)
- 2-3 Cups plain water for soaking
- 4 Cups water(for milk)
Soak almonds in water overnight.
Next day, grind them in the grinder with 4 cups water for about 2 minutes.
Strain using a strainer and store in air tight container in refrigerator.
Don’t throw away the almond meal after you strain the milk. Use it in various other recipes , because it is healthy.
Use this while preparing smoothies, shakes, pudding etc.
Consume within 3-4 days.
Note: You can add vanilla essence for flavoring.
