Sungtache Vindaloo/Prawns or shrimp Vindaloo
Vindaloo also known as vindallo, vindalho, or vindaalo is an Indian curry dish popular in Goa. It was brought to Goa by Portuguese. It is a hot , spicy curry typically made out of beef, chicken, lamb or pork but today I am going to prepare prawns vindaloo. I prepare vindaloo masala in advance and refrigerate it and use whenever required. So let’s start with our authentic recipe of prawns vindaloo.
Ingredients:
- 200 Grams Prawns(Peeled,Cleaned and deveined)
- 1/2 Cup Vindaloo Paste( I used homemade)
- 1 Tablespoons oil
- 1 Teaspoon Vinegar
- 1 /2 onion chopped
- 1 tomato chopped
- 1 potato peeled and chopped (Optional)
- water as required
- 1 Teaspoon sugar
- salt as required
Method:
Take oil in a panonce hot saute chopped onion.
Saute onion until it changes color.
Now add tomatoes. Cook on medium heat till they become soft and mushy. This will take roughly around 2 minutes.
Cook until it softens also add sugar.
Put the chopped potatoes.
Sprinkle some salt and cook until potatoes are half – cooked.
Add Vindaloo paste.
Bring to a boil over medium heat.
Add prawns and cook for 10-12 mins more on medium heat. Add water as consistency required.
Lastly add vinegar and simmer for 2-3 mins more.
Enjoy this Prawn Vindaloo with bread, rice , Naan etc.
