Today on the occasion of Independence day of India, I wanted to try out something new and healthy for snack time and my son wanted sandwich. So I was hunting for quick and easy sandwich recipes where it should also depict our Tricolor flag and this idea came into my mind. This is a healthy sandwich recipe where I have used healthy sandwich spreads with added greens and the kids don’t make a fuss while eating.
This Indian Flag Sandwich can be added into your party sandwich recipes checklist.
- Sandwich bread slices or dinner rolls
- 1 big potato
- bunch of coriander leaves
- bunch of Spinach or any green leafy vegetables
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder(you can subsititute with the seasoning of your choice)
- 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp of butter
If you are using dinner rolls, then ,slice them into 1 inch thick slices.
Roast these slices on a non stick skillet using a tbsp of butter till they change their color slightly. This will take a minute.
Boil , peel and mash potato.
Add seasoning like pepper powder, garlic powder and salt.
Divide the mash into 3 parts.
Take one part and grind along with coriander leaves and spinach in a grinder. This will be your green color.
Now in a bowl, take tomato ketchup and hot sauce and mix another 3rd part of the tomato mash to get orange color.
Take a slice and spread one color paste, on another slice the other color paste and on the third slice the plain white paste.
Stack them one above the other to give Tiranga or Tri Color look.
