Butter Cookies
Very tasty and very easy to make Butter Cookies can be made using cookie cutters after rolling the dough or can be made into cylindrical rolls and sliced out from them. Butter Cookie recipe is very basic.
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup of maida or All Purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt if you are using unsalted butter
- 1 Â sticks (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup Powder sugar or White sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
- little egg white for brushing
Method:
In a mixing bowl , take butter at room temperature . Add sugar and beat at high speed using electric mixer till its soft and fluffy . This may take about 2-3 minutes. Now beat in egg and vanilla essence. Sift all purpose flour and baking powder along with salt into this mixture. Mix this until everything is combined well. Don’t knead the dough. Just mix and make the dough. Wrap this dough with plastic wrap and keep refrigerated for around 2-3 hours.
Preheat oven at 350 degree Fahrenheit . Remove the dough out from the refrigerator and roll it up on the parchment paper about 1/2 inch thickness. Use cookie cutter of any shape to cut out the cookies. Arrange cookies on ungreased baking sheets keeping about 1 inch distance between each cookie as cookies always expand while baking. Brush every cookie with some egg white or milk so that it give a good glaze after baking.  Bake them for 10-12 minutes . Cool them outside for some time . And here  are your simple butter cookies. Place wax paper or parchment paper in between the cookies and keep in the airtight container at room temperature . Consume within 10-15 days.
