Chicken Tacos
Taco is a traditional Mexican dish made from corn or wheat flour tortilla folded around beef, chicken, fish or veggie fillings. A taco is served with garnishes like Guacamole , salsa tomatoes, meat etc. There are different taco recipes available like shredded chicken tacos, pulled chicken tacos , grilled chicken tacos. I have tried out  cubed chicken tacos. This is a easy chicken taco recipe where I have prepared taco shells from scratch.
Ingredients for taco shells:
- 1 cup All Purpose Flour(maida)
- ½ cup corn flour
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsps oil
- water for making dough
Method:
Mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl adding water . Knead and make dough. Keep the dough covered for about 10 minutes.
Heat skillet . Take a small ball of dough and roll it and place on the hot skillet about 6 inches in diameter . After about 30 seconds flip it , wait till 30 seconds and take  it off from the skillet. This way, cook all the shells and keep them aside.
Now preheat oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit. Arrange shells on the rack as shown and bake for about 8-10 minutes. The shells are ready for the stuffing.
Ingredients for the stuffing:
- 1 lb chicken
- 1 tacos seasoning packet
- 2 tsps garlic chopped
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 tomato chopped
- 2 tbsps oil
Method:
Wash and cut chicken into very small pieces. In a pan , add oil and fry garlic and onions for a minute. Add chicken, fry till chicken turns white from pink. Add taco seasoning, cover and keep for cooking for upto 8 minutes . Check if there is water inside. If there is water, cook till water gets fully absorbed.
To Prepare Tacos:
Arrange Taco shells in a plate and scoop the stuffing prepared above and stuff inside each shell. stuff cut onions and tomatoes. Cheese can also be added. Serve it when the filling is still warm.
