Spider Web On Cup Cakes
Since it is Halloween fever, I was looking for ideas to spike it up and have prepared 2 types of simple and easy cakes today. One is cupcakes and the other one is the normal cake in round cake pans. The base cake is the same for both except for the bigger cake I have used whipped cream with orange juice as frosting , and a chocolate spider web to give it a Halloween theme, while for cup cakes , I have used only melted chocolate to make the spider webs. Of course you get ready made halloween decorations for the cakes but I like to prepare everything from the scratch. Here I will show you how to prepare these spooky little cupies.
Yields: 24Â Cup cakes
Time: 40 Mins
Ingredients for the base:
- 1 1/2 Cup(188 grams) All purpose Flour/Maida
- 1 Cup (200 Grams) white granulated sugar
- 1 Teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 Cup (113 Grams) salted butter+ Some extra
- 2 Tablespoons or Orange juice+ 1 Teaspoon of Orange Zest
- 1 Drop orange food color(Optional)
- 1/2 Cup (118Â ml)Milk
- 6 large egg whites
Ingredients for spider webs:
- 1/2 Cup of melted chocolate (It shouldn’t be too runny to make spider webs)
Method for cake:
Sift flour and baking powder together and keep aside.
With electric hand beater on high speed, beat butter and 1/2 cup sugar till fluffy. That will take around 3-4 minutes.
Add orange juice+zest and beat for few seconds.
Add orange food color and beat for few more seconds.
Decrease the speed of the beater to low and add flour mixture in 3 parts , alternating with milk and beginning and ending with flour.
Beat until it is just combined.
Transfer in a big bowl.
In the other bowl, beat egg whites on low speed till they foam.
Add the remaining sugar and beat on high till you get stiff peaks . That will take roughly around 4 minutes.
Do not overbeat otherwise you will spoil it.
Gently fold 1/3rd of egg white into butter-flour mixture till combined.
Gently fold in the remaining egg white.
Now pour this mixture into the cupcake pans lined with cupcake liners.
You will be able to make 24Â cupcakes.
Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit and bake the cup cakes for 10 minutes.(Of course that depends on individual oven).
Check with toothpick in between. If it comes out clean, that means you can remove your cup cakes out, otherwise bake for few more minutes.
Take them out and let them cool down completely before you frost them.
Method for spider webs :
Prepare a silver foil by spreading some butter on it.
Take some melted chocolate and pour it in the piping bag with Round pastry tip (the smallest one , the better) and start making small webs on the silver foil. Refer to my video for that.
Make 24 webs . You can also make spiders . Use your imagination.
Freeze all these webs in the freezer for 5 minutes.
Remove these webs gently as shown in the video and keep placing on each cup cake.
And there your Cute and spooky little Halloween Cup cakes are ready.
