Swiss Roll Recipe | Swiss Roll Cake Recipe| Swiss Roll Sponge Recipe
A Swiss roll also called as jelly roll, or cream roll is a type of sponge cake roll  with any type of filling like jam, cream, chocolate. It is originated in Central Europe . The name varies as per the fillings you use. If you use Strawberry filling, it will be called as strawberry swiss roll, if you use cocoa powder mixed in the base cake it will be called as chocolate Swiss roll , if you add heavy whipping cream as the filling, it will be the cream Swiss roll. chocolate swiss roll recipe can also be made using melted chocolate filling instead of jam.
Swiss roll recipe seems to look very difficult but its not true. To make it , no prior knowledge of cake making is required. So how to make Swiss roll or a rolled cake?
I have tried out easiest swiss cake roll.Â
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup of Maida or All purpose flour
- 1/2 Cup of Sugar
- 2-3 tsp warm water
- 13×10 inch Baking Tray
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- Butter
- 1/4 tsp Vanilla extract (same as vanilla essence)
- Filling of your choice( I used Rasberry jam) 1 cup
- 3 Eggs
Method:
Take a big bowl and beat the eggs with hand blender for approximately 5 minutes on high till it becomes thick . Add warm water to eat and again beat the mixture for about 3 minutes. Add sugar and again beat for some time. Sift All purpose flour and baking powder over this mixture and cut and fold over . Do not make use of hand blender now as it won’t server the purpose. Just keep cutting and folding the mixture with spatula till the flour is fully mixed. Add vanilla extract and again fold it. Preheat the oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.
use butter paper or aluminium foil for this.
Grease aluminium foil and place it in the baking tray. Take another greased aluminium foil of the same size as the one you used for the tray and keep it for later use.
Pour the mixture into the tray give a tap to it so that it spreads evenly without any bubbles and bake for 15 minutes. Warm the Rasberry jam or any other filling of your choice in a sauce pan over low heat until it becomes warm. Remove the cake from the oven and turn immediately on the aluminium foil you had made ready in the beginning. While making this cake you have to be very quick . Otherwise it might become soggy.
Now immediately spread the jam over this cake.
Roll up now. This tastes very good with Tea or Coffee.
Tip: Chocolate Swiss roll recipe is same as above, only that you use 2 tbsps of cocoa powder in the cake.
