How to Have More Fun with Cooking
When you have to do something every day, it takes the joy out of it. So, that means you have to try really hard to get o the kitchen and make wholesome meals. It is so tempting to rely on easy foods such as microwave meals or bunging something in the oven, but this is not the healthiest option. So, what you need to do is find some ways of having more fun with cooking. So, let’s discover a few ways you can do that:
Listen to Something
You don’t want to listen to the sound of chopping or boiling water; listen to some happy tunes. Music can always make things much more fun. The right music can put you in a happy mood, ready to take the world on, so create a cooking playlist, and instead of shoving something unceremoniously in the oven, you’ll be tapping your toes while chopping those onions. If music is not something you enjoy while coking, how about listening to a podcast or playing an audiobook? This is a way of killing two birds with one stone. You can listen to that book you’ve been meaning to read while making something healthy for the family.
A Family Affair
Cooking is not something that needs to be done solo. To make it more fun, get the kids and your partner involved. The more, the merrier. Give everyone a task suitable for their age. Setting the table, chopping vegetables, and checking the recipes. Running to the shop to get something you’ve forgotten. Use cooking together as a way to instill some healthy food habits onto your children. Remember, the end result is something to be enjoyed together. Make a rule of no phones at the dinner table, and maybe it could be someone’s task to come up with some talking points, maybe some current affairs, whatever they fancy.
Go Hunting
Well, this does not mean literally unless you are into that kind of thing. But go hunting for some great recipes or some wonderful vegetables you have never seen before. Go to the local library and borrow that dusty old recipe book from the 1970s and let the book fall open at a recipe and that rule is you have to cook it. Get the kids to choose some wild and exotic foods in the supermarket, learn about them and cook them. Don’t always go for the really healthy options either cook some fun things like blueberry muffins or pizza. Remember, homecooked food is always going to be healthier than shop-bought or take-out, so even homemade pizza is a step up from takeaway ij terms of your health. The more things you can find, the wider your culinary knowledge will get and the more fun it will be.
Themed Meals
Why not have a themed meal night? Monday could be for Chinese, Tuesday meat-free, Wednesday, Mexican, and so forth. It could be fun trying to make cuisine from countries all around the world. It is a great way to experiment and learn too.
