Rice Balls / Rice Dumplings
Rice Balls / Rice Dumplings is a quick and easy snack which is made out of left over rice . Can be even served for breakfast.
I always enjoy cooking something out of leftover food. I mean why to waste if you can make something tasty out of it. Right?
So tried out this recipe of rice dumplings made out of over rice and it tasted superb. Â It can be a breakfast idea, snack idea or also used for lunch and dinner so that the kids don’t make a fuss. So lets check out how to make rice balls or rice dumplings.

Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Cooked leftover rice soaked in 1/2 cup yogurt  for at least an hour( best to keep overnight)
- 1/3 Cup ( 45 Grams) Gram flour / Besan
- 1/4 Cup (34 Grams) Oats flour
- 1/4 Cup chopped spinach
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric powder/Haldi
- 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli powder
- Pinch of Asafoetida /Hing
- 1/4 Teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 Tablespoon Sesame seeds
- 1 Teaspoon Mustard seeds
- Salt to Taste
- 2 Tablespoons of cooking oil
Method:
 Mix rice,chopped spinach, oats flour, gram flour,  turmeric powder, red chlli powder, asafoetida, baking soda and salt in a bowl and make a dough. Since the mixture has yogurt , no need to add water. But if the mixture is too dry, add water 1 tablespoon at a time until it becomes a nice dough.
Take a tennis ball size piece out of the dough and make it oval shape ball.
Repeat for all.
Heat a non- stick pan .
Add oil and temper with mustard and sesame seeds. When mustard seeds start crackling, add these balls keeping some distance between each.
Cook on medium heat, flip the dumplings then cook on low to medium heat. Flip in between. Cook until dumplings are golden brown on all sides for 7-8 minutes.
Enjoy these rice balls or rice dumplings with Tomato ketchup.
