Jeera Rice / Indian Cumin Rice
Jeera Rice / Indian Cumin Rice is one of the easy , flavorful rice which can be served with any kind of Indian Curry.
Jeera rice or jeera pulao is one of the easy and flavorful rice prepared in India and can be served with any kind of curry ,whether it is vegetarian or non vegetarian. Over the time, many variations are being done with this recipe. Some people prefer to add some whole spices like cloves, pepper in it while some people just love it plain. I have added mint leaves in my Jeera Rice and served it with the chicken.
And if you are looking for easy meal ideas, Jeera rice is the best option for lunch or dinner. Though I haven’t used onions and garlic, you can try it out with chopped onions and ginger garlic paste.

Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup Basmati rice/long grain rice
- 2 Teaspoons Jeera /Cumin seeds
- 1 Tablespoon Ghee / Clarified Butter
- 2 Bay leaves
- 3-4 Green Chilies(chopped fine)
- Few chopped Pudina / Mint(Optional)
- 3 cups water
Method:
Wash and soak rice for about 30 minutes.
Heat ghee in a big saucepan and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle on medium heat.
Add bay leaves and chopped green chilies. Saute for few seconds.
Add chopped mint and mix.
Add water and sprinkle salt to taste.
Let the water come to complete boil.
Add soaked rice and mix.
Cook on high heat till the water is absorbed. check in between.
Now keep the flame on low. Mix rice well. Cover and let it cook for 10 more minutes or until the rice looks fully cooked. Switch off the heat and you are ready to serve aromatic and flavorful Jeera Rice.
Serve it hot with any kind of curry. I had prepared this recipe chicken and rice in a bowl using jeera rice.
