Chicken Tikki/ Chicken Patties
Chicken Tikki/ Chicken Patties can be best enjoyed with mint chutney specially in the evenings while enjoying your tea or coffee.
Yesterday it was raining here, and my husband was in a mood to eat something spicy , crunchy Indian snack. Actually I was planning to make pakodas(Indian fritters) but I am a health freak and always keep a distance from  deep fried items.Â
Appetizers or snacks is my plus point , and if it is non vegetarian, then I can make just anything out of it. Normally I use minced chicken(also called ground chicken) to prepare some quick recipes , which goes well with Indian bread.Â
But this time, I wanted to prepare Patty which is also called as tikki or cutlet in India, which is served as it is with some chutney or sauce or Can be served  with bread like burger . The recipe is very simple and since, mince chicken takes very less time to cook, they get ready within few minutes. If you are planning to prepare these cutlets sometime later or next day and want to keep the mixture ready, then add onions and breadcrumbs whenever you will be shallow frying them, otherwise they become soggy. Same recipe can be altered if you plan for vegetarian tikkis by adding some boiled veggies instead of minced chicken.
But today, let’s see how to make chicken patties.
Preparation time:Â 15 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Yields : 7-8 Tikkis
 Ingredients:Â
- 400 Grams Minced  Chicken / Ground chicken
- 1 Medium Onion chopped very fine
- 1 Small bunch of chopped Coriander leaves/ Cilantro
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger garlic paste
- 2 Tablespoons Rice flour
- Salt to taste
- 1 Egg for coating
- 1Â Cup BreadcrumbsÂ
- 2-3 Tablespoons Oil for shallow fry
 Dry spices:Â
- 1 Tablespoon Garam masala
- 1 Teaspoon Red chili powder
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 Teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin powder
Method:
In a small bowl, scramble the egg and keep aside.
Take minced chicken in a big bowl . Add in all the spices mentioned in it and mix well.Â
Now add in ginger garlic paste, chopped onions, chopped coriander leaves, rice flour, 1/4 cup bread crumbs and salt to taste.
Mix well. If you find the mixture is too sticky to make balls, add in more bread crumbs.
Take about lemon size ball out of mixture and shape it into round shape.
Dip each ball into the egg mixture and dust them in the bread crumbs , pressing a little while dusting to give it a flat cutlet or patty shape.
Heat a skillet and add a tablespoon oil . Arrange all the patties on top and drizzle more oil on top of each patty.
Fry on medium heat till crisp on both the sides. This takes roughly 5 minutes on each side.
Remove on a plate and serve your best and yum chicken snack with ketchup or mint chutney.
