Savory Shrimps on skillet
Savory Shrimps on skillet is a recipe where shrimps are shallow fried on a skillet using butter. Best appetizer anytime, anywhere.
When coming to appetizers, my son and husband always prefer either chicken or prawns and I am allergic to prawns so most of my appetizer recipes are of chicken or vegetarian. Every time I eat a prawn, I get bad stomach cramps . Don’t know why but I have to avoid it . so I try to avoid cooking shrimps mostly, but since my family likes them, I do make some recipes for them to enjoy and I like to watch them, enjoying . Though I have posted many of shrimp recipes on my website, I have not tasted a single one of them. They are all tasted and certified by my family. I ask them their feedback and thankfully every recipe they tasted, I got a pat of appreciation .
Shrimps or prawns is one of the shellfish,  which can be cooked in variety of ways , using your own styles and spices, could be sweet ,hot or savory. Anyhow you prepare them, they always taste yum. I always  keep my appetizers simple and quick so that I don’t have to stand in the kitchen for a long time, sweating and panting, and today’s recipe is very quick too,  and is one of the best appetizers from my list as told by my son. You can keep it as a make ahead appetizer and warm it up while serving.
In this recipe, cleaned deveined and tail on( though  I have kept the tail on , you can always remove the tail) shrimps are marinated in the sauce prepared out of honey, soy sauce and herbs. They are then just  shallow fried on a skillet using butter.
Preparation Time:Â Â 20 Minutes
Cooking Time:Â 8 Â Minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 lb(400 Grams) Shrimps(Preferably big size)
- 1 Tablespoon Butter or oil
- Orange food color(Optional)
Â
Ingredients for Sauce:
- 1 Teaspoon Soy Sauce >
- 1 Teaspoon Lime Juice
- 2 Tablespoons  Honey
- 1 Tablespoon hot sauce
- 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper powder
- 1 Teaspoon minced or grated garlic
- 1/2 Teaspoon minced or grated ginger
- Few dry or fresh Thyme leaves(Optional)
Method:
Devein and deshell the shrimps. Keep the tail on if you want . I like to keep the tail for  this particular recipe.
In a small bowl, mix together ingredients mentioned for sauce .
Add shrimps into the sauce and mix well and  marinate for 20 minutes.
Add 3-4 drops of orange food color into the marinated shrimps and mix well.
Heat a skillet. Add 1/2 tablespoon butter and once the butter is melted, remove the shrimps out from the marination sauce and place  on top.  Don’t overcrowd. Fry in two batches if there isn’t any room. Reserve the remaining sauce for later use.
Fry on medium heat for about 2 minutes on one side and then flip them all.
Fry on the other side similarly..
Once they look all browned and fried nicely, remove them out on a plate and repeat for the next batch. Switch off the stove.
Now, mix all the fried shrimps together in a same skillet and drizzle the reserved sauce over them. Mix well and serve.
