Paneer Masala Gravy
Paneer masala gravy is similar to butter masala with slight variations. Simple recipe, where paneer cubes are grilled or broiled and cooked in masala.
Whenever I prepare any  Indian vegetarian main course, two items are always on menu , paneer or  mushrooms. And preparing gravy makes my cooking job a less tedious , because , gravy can be prepared within a short span of time and my bread dough is always ready in the refrigerator. So, I don’t have to worry about other things . Just the simple curry with Indian naan makes a complete meal.
Whenever it comes to North Indian dishes of Paneer,thinking about paneer butter masala makes me drool. Paneer masala gravy is similar to butter masala with slight variations. Very simple recipe, where paneer is cut into cubes and are grilled or broiled to slightly browned and cooked in the tangy , that includes onion puree prepared with lots of Indian spices and tomato puree, which gives it a tangy taste. Â Milk cream makes it more creamy and rich. Â Soft paneer will just melt in your mouth the moment you take the bit of this lovely dish.

Serves : 4Â
 Ingredients:Â
- 1 Lb(400 Grams) Paneer (Indian Cottage cheese)
- 1 Teaspoon Kasuri Methi(Optional)
- 1/4 Cup Milk cream ( For extra creaminess)Â
- 2Â Tomatoes
- 1 Tablespoon oil + little extra for brushing on the paneer cubes
- Salt to taste
For Onion Paste:Â
- 1 Medium Onion(rougly chopped)
- 1 Teaspoon Khuskhus / Poppy seeds
- 5-6  Dry red chilies
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 Tablespoon Coriander seeds
- 3-4 Black pepper corns
- 3-4 Cloves
- 1 Small stick of cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Fennel seeds
- 5-6 Cloves garlic
Method:
Cut the paneer into 1 inch cubes . Thread them to skewers. Brush a little oil on them  and broil at 525 degree Farenheit for about 5 minutes or until they are slightly browned. You can also shallow fry these cubes on a skillet, using little oil.
Blanch the tomatoes using a cup of water for about 10 minutes and peel them off.
Grind them to smooth paste and keep aside.
Grind together, ingredients mentioned for onion paste using little water.
In a medium saucepan kept on medium high heat, add oil and fry onion paste for about 10 minutes.

Add tomato paste.
Mix and add cream. Fry for 5 more minutes.
Add paneer cubes . Mix well and cook on medium high heat for 5 more minutes.
Adjust salt and sprinkle some kasuri methi. Mix and switch off the heat.
Remove from heat and serve with naan , roti or paratha.

I have only recently discovered paneer, so I am looking for new ways to try it. This looks like it is full of flavour.
